La Biennale di Venezia was established in 1895 and is today acknowledged as one of the most prestigious cultural institutions. La Biennale di Venezia stands at the forefront of research and promotion of new contemporary art trends, and organizes events in all its specific sectors: Arts, Architecture, Cinema, Dance, Music, and Theatre – alongside research and training activities.
The 78th annual Venice International Film Festival was held from 1 to 11 September 2021.
8 VR movies
Together with our partner Surround Vision, Moyosa Media implemented the VR experiences for the Venice Biennale submissions, after a last minute pull out of a tech-partner. The VR application consists of 2 stages, the main menu and the playback state. The main menu contains a short description of the movies and logos of the parties involved, whilst the playback state will contain basic controls such as play, pause, scrub, plus of course the option to go back to the main menu.
Result
The result is a flawless VR experience for Oculus and Vive headsets. Dubbed “Venice VR Expanded” all VR experiences of the 78th Venice International Film Festival can be viewed at the festival. In total, thirty-seven projects (eight 360 videos, twenty-five VR projects, four VR projects upon reservation) from twenty-three countries are going to be screened!
