More than 75 years after World War II, a memorial dedicated to the over 102,000 Dutch victims of the Holocaust without a grave will finally be unveiled in the Netherlands. Designed by the Polish-American architect Daniël Libeskind, the memorial is located on Weesperstraat in Amsterdam. Moyosa had the privilege to help work on a location-based tool for visitors to find the names of people they are looking for, through an interactive search tool, initiated by a QR code, showing a walking path through the memorial to the correct wall where the named brick is situated.
102,000 bricks
The memorial consists of four Hebrew letters that make up a word that translates as “In memory of”. When visitors enter the memorial, they find themselves in a labyrinth of passageways flanked by two-meter-tall brick walls that convey the message ‘In memory of’. Inscribed on each of the 102,000 bricks is a name, date of birth and age of death, in such a way that the name of each victim can be touched. The walls of names support the four letters in reflective stainless steel.

The web-based application works flawlessly and makes it easy for visitors to navigate an impressive memorial which should never have existed. We are proud to have been a part of this important project.
