Apollo’s Vertical Conveyor Belt systems (VCB) are large factory-sized installations of up to 10 meters high. Prior to the COVID pandemic, Apollo used to travel with at least 1 installation and supporting sales collateral to tradeshows on every continent, which was highly inefficient.
Moyosa’s solution allows Apollo to demonstrate four of their flagship VCB’s in great detail through an iPad app and a microsite.
iPad app
Using pre-defined, clickable hotspots tagged onto the 3D model, users receive more information about the various USP’s of the Vertical Conveyor Belt systems, all the while being able to see the systems in great detail and navigate around them in 3D by simply swiping and zooming with their fingers.
In order to get a better frame of reference for the products on the belts, users can toggle between 3 different products being transported.
Updates
The application was built with an eye on possible future updates. This allowed us to update the styling of the conveyors according to updates in Apollo’s branding. We have also added a new type of conveyor to the application: The Bucket Elevator.
With a built-in augmented reality functionality (for the iPad), users can project the 3D model in a real-life environment such as an office or an actual factory.
For the Apollo sales team, this gives an unprecedented opportunity to wow clients and demo an operational product at 100% scale (or smaller/larger) in 3D. Users can literally walk around the machine system in 3D and get up close and personal, but also gauge how it would fit in their actual (factory) environment.
Microsite
After successfully launching the Apollo trade fair app in 2020, Apollo has asked Moyosa to recreate the app experience in a microsite, in order to be able to leave the leads with a tangible, interactive experience, highlighting the USP’s for Apollo’s Spiral Conveyor belt solutions.
Moyosa has designed and built a “product presentation microsite” which is hosted on Apollo’s URL. The site is a custom made, interactive webpage, showing high resolution renders and animations of Apollo’s spiral conveyor systems, and mirrors the content of the Tradefair app. The main advantage of a web-based solution however is that the style and content of the microsite are identical to the app and this experience can easily be shared online.
The main challenge we needed to overcome for this web-based solution is that realtime rendering of 3D the 3D models used in the app would significantly decrease the rendered quality. Therefore, we created high quality renders beforehand, that are featured on the site as stills and short videos.
The microsite follows a more linear storyline than the app did, yet still being guided around and through the Conveyor Belt solutions. This guided approach allows the client to prioritise certain information, and give the visitor a more “guided” experience.
The result is a beautiful, smooth, fun and interactive guided tour through 3 solutions, with a high dose of “3D feeling”, whilst highlighting the USP’s of Apollo’s solutions. During and at the end of the tour, visitors are prompted by call-to-action buttons, allowing them to contact Apollo for more information about the conveyor belts.
