A multisensory VR journey to Mount Ibuki
Continuing our partnership with xydrobe, we had the opportunity to create an immersive VR experience for Shiseido, which was featured at Macy’s in New York. The goal was to bring their luxurious skincare collection to life, with a special focus on a key ingredient, the Enmei Herb. This 360-degree VR animation took visitors on a multisensory journey to Mount Ibuki in Japan, where the Enmei Herb is cultivated.
The Essence of Enmei
Housed in xydrobe’s Pod, this 5-minute multisensory VR experience transported guests through a detailed virtual landscape, blending visual storytelling with the Pod’s 4D technology. While offering breathtaking views, the Pod incorporates sound, wind, and scent for full immersion.
The journey opens with the guest standing in a beautiful hotel room, featuring Japanese-inspired décor. One of the walls showcases an intricate design resembling Mount Ibuki, merging traditional art with modern aesthetics. As the scene progresses, the wall itself dramatically opens, transporting the guest from the serene hotel room directly into the breathtaking landscape of Mount Ibuki, where the real adventure begins. The experience not only entertains the visitors but also educates them on the significance of the Enmei Herb and its role in Shiseido’s skincare.
Bringing a Multisensory VR Vision to Life
Facing a challenging timeline, our team brought Shiseido’s vision to life through detailed 3D animations and precise camera work, creating a high-quality VR experience.
Despite the time constraints, the final experience was deeply immersive, blending visuals, sound, and scent. The overwhelmingly positive feedback from Shiseido and guests, including first-time VR users, affirmed the project’s success and left a lasting impact.
What we did
Our team handled all 3D animations and camera movements, ensuring high-quality visuals within a tight timeline. We recreated Shiseido’s jar in 3D and integrated all storyboard elements into a memorable experience.
We used real-life heightmap data of Mount Ibuki and procedural content generation for the forest, ensuring the natural landscape felt authentic while keeping rendering time manageable. Along the way, we provided visuals for reviews and delivered the final edit with audio, bringing the creative vision to life on time.

A successful project
The final product was extremely well-received by both Shiseido and attendees. One participant described the experience as “one of the best things I’ve ever done,” and we had an 80-year-old first-time VR user moved to tears, simply saying, “Beautiful, flying, I love flying!” The overwhelmingly positive feedback highlighted the success of the project. It was rewarding to see how every part of the journey—from the opening scene to the science behind the product—resonated with the audience. Stay tuned for more VR experiences coming soon!
