An immersive virtual tour
For one of our latest collaborations with xydrobe, we created a 5-minute 360-degree VR animation for Allergan, a leading company in aesthetic medicine. This immersive experience was designed to showcase Allergan’s new training facility, AMI, to investors and attendees at various events.
Balancing visual fidelity and performance
The new facility will be a place where attendees can share their experiences, connect with other professionals, and build a community. Our team created a guided tour through key areas of the facility, including the lounge, training center, treatment rooms, and anatomy lab.
The main challenge of this project was achieving a high-quality visual style that matched the architectural renders while maintaining optimal performance. Architects tend to use a more physically accurate method for lighting, but that takes significant time to render each frame. Our objective was to get as close as possible to these renders while using a lighting method that was feasible within the project’s rendering timeframe. We solved this by leveraging Unreal Engine 5.5’s Megalights, and we were able to add more lights than usual to ensure a realistic experience without sacrificing performance.
Lessons learned
The project was delivered on schedule, successfully meeting all objectives. Along the way, we learned a lot about Unreal Engine’s Lumen and we improved our architectural visualization workflow. It was a fun learning experience to light an interior scene of this scale! This collaboration with xydrobe once again showed how we can bring together design and technology to create engaging and memorable experiences for clients and their audiences.
